Interview on professional wellbeing and termination of pregnancy services 

A confidential 1-to-1 online interview

We are looking to hear from GPs, Primary Care Women’s Health Doctors, Nurses, Midwives, Obstetricians/Gynaecologists, Anaesthesiologists, and Trainees in these specialties.

Interview questions and format

The interview questions cover three themes: 

  • reasons for participation, or not, in termination of pregnancy services
  • professional experiences with termination of pregnancy services
  • opportunities for better supporting healthcare professionals in their role 

The interview lasts up to 45 minutes. We work around your schedule to find the most convenient date and time.

We are seeking participants from a range of professions typically involved in the provision or facilitation of abortion care, including GPs, Primary Care Women’s Health Doctors, Nurses, Midwives, Obstetricians/Gynaecologists, Anaesthesiologists, and Trainees in these specialties. We are looking to speak with individuals based in general practices and hospitals across Ireland, including in urban, rural, and remote areas.

Fully confidential, on a voluntary basis

Participation in the interview study is strictly confidential. No identifiable data will be collected and anything that may be identifiable will be removed before publication of the findings. Only the Principal Investigator, Dr Camille Nadal (UCD IRIS Centre) will have access to participants’ names; they will not be shared with anyone else. 


Taking part in this study is entirely voluntary. You are free to share only what you are comfortable with. You may withdraw at any time: there are no consequences and your decision will be fully respected.
